At least a quorum of your Officers must remember their Officer passwords for BallotBox to be able to decrypt the ballots. There is no other way. That is why we recommend that you have more Officers for a poll than your quorum size; for example, if your quorum size for a poll is 2 Officers (which is the default), we recommend you have at least 3 Officers for that poll.
If you cannot put together a quorum of Officers who remember their passwords, you can:
- Ask them to keep trying to remember.
- Discard the poll, and run it again.
There simply is no back door to this requirement. Protecting the integrity and anonymity of the voting process is at the core of our platform, and the requirement for a quorum of your Officers to remember their passwords is fundamental. (That is why they are asked to enter it 3 times when they set it.)
