What is my role as an Officer in the process of unlocking the Poll and retrieving the results?

Each poll has a designated “quorum” size, which is the number of Officers required to unlock the poll’s results.   By default, the quorum size is 2, but our customer can set the number to be as high as 5.

To unlock a poll’s results, at least the quorum size number of Officers for that poll must get together, in person, in front of the same web browser, to enter their passwords.  Because the ballots are encrypted, there is no alternative to this process – if too many Officers forget their passwords or are unavailable for any reason, the poll cannot be unlocked.

To find the Unlock Poll button, after the poll closes, either an Admin or an Officer in that poll can log into BallotBox and click on that poll.  In addition, BallotBox will send emails prompting you to unlock the results.
